Privacy policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
This policy explains what TractoAfrica collects when you use our website, apps and services, why we collect it, who we share it with, and your rights. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: name, phone number, email, city, and for companies the company name and registration details.
- Verification: identity numbers (such as NIN), licences, company documents, guarantor details and bank account details, depending on the services you use.
- Bookings and orders: what you hire, buy, order or move, dates, sites, prices, ratings and messages on the platform.
- Location: the site you give us, and during an active job the position of the truck or machine from a tracker or the driver’s phone.
- Payments: payment references and payout records. Card details are handled by our licensed payment gateway; we never store them.
- Usage: pages visited and basic device information, to keep the service secure and working.
Why we use it
- To run your bookings, orders, payments and payouts.
- To verify people, companies and machines so both sides can trust each deal.
- To protect contact details: we connect you through chat and private calls instead of sharing numbers.
- To resolve disputes, prevent fraud and keep records required by law.
- To send service messages and, if you agree, updates about TractoAfrica.
Who we share it with
We share only what each party needs: the other side of a booking sees your first name and initial, rating and verification level, never your contact details. We use licensed providers for payments, identity checks, SMS, email, calls, maps and hosting. Partner lenders and insurers see your information only when you apply to them and agree to share it.
How we protect it
Sensitive data such as identity numbers and bank details is encrypted, private files are shared through short-lived links, staff sign in with two-factor authentication, and every staff action is logged.
How long we keep it
We keep account and transaction records for as long as your account is open and for the period the law requires after that. Verification documents are kept while they are valid and needed.
Your rights
- Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it, where the law allows.
- Withdraw consent for marketing messages at any time.
Email support@tractoafrica.com to use any of these rights. We reply within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and tell you in the app when the change matters to you.
